OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
The Virtual Symposium aims to establish a forum for evaluating the existing knowledge and identifying gaps in our understanding of contaminants that may jeopardize consumer health and safety in extracted products. It places a particular emphasis on scrutinizing the origins of contamination, encompassing cultivation, plant absorption, extraction processes, manufacturing, packaging, and distribution, among other factors, and exploring strategies to mitigate these risks.
The insights shared during this symposium will serve as a cornerstone for shaping new standards and specifications relevant to risk assessments rooted in common sources of contamination within the extraction industry. This knowledge will facilitate the development of effective approaches for the detection and reduction of contaminants.
Key topics to be addressed in this symposium encompass, but are not limited to, regulatory thresholds, standards development, the impact of toxicity, testing methodologies, concerns related to vaping, and other pertinent issues associated with contaminants, including:

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS
Symposium attendees interested in receiving 1.7 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) must complete the CEU application form in the back of the program booklet and email it to ASTM Symposia Operations at symposia@astm.org. You must be registered and have attended the entire event in order to receive the CEU’s. A certificate will be sent to you via email approximately 1 to 2 weeks after the symposium concludes.
STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT MEETINGS Committee D37 you to attend their future standards development meetings. There is no fee to attend these meetings, and membership in ASTM International is not required to attend.
